Window cleaning in Ramsey, MN

Streak-free glass inside and out, cleaned by hand or with 0 PPM pure water by the owner who quotes it.

Ramsey water is very hard, at about 255 to 290 PPM, and wherever that water dries on glass, its minerals stay behind as white spots. Glass House cleans inside and out by hand or with a water-fed pole that rinses with water filtered to 0 PPM (no dissolved minerals), so the glass dries clear.

Frames and sills are wiped with every package, Standard removes and reinstalls screens, and Premium adds washed screens, cleaned tracks and the 10-Day Rain Guarantee. Every visit is backed by the Streak-Free Guarantee, and Carson Brenny, the owner, quotes the job, cleans the glass and walks it with you at the end.

RAMSEY SPECIFICS

What window cleaning means in Ramsey

The local conditions that shape how Glass House approaches window cleaning in Ramsey, and the standards it holds to on every visit.

WATER

Very hard, 255 to 290 PPM

Ramsey classifies its city water as very hard, at about 255 to 290 PPM (parts per million). A new treatment plant opened in spring 2026 to remove iron and manganese, and some homes are on private wells. Water that hard dries into white spots on glass and a dull film on siding, and private wells bypass the plant, so their spray can also leave orange iron stains on siding and concrete. Our pure-water rinse is filtered to 0 PPM, so the cleaning itself never leaves mineral spots on the glass.

WATERING

Summer odd/even and rain sensors

Ramsey city water users follow an odd/even schedule from Memorial Day to Labor Day, with no watering from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and every in-ground irrigation system, city or well, needs a rain sensor. Rain sensors stop cycles during rain, so less water dries on the house, but every cycle that reaches siding, glass or the driveway still leaves a thin layer of minerals in the same place.

RIVERS AND PARKS

Between the Rum and the Mississippi

Surface water in Ramsey drains toward the Rum and Mississippi Rivers, and the city is home to the Mississippi West and Rum River Central regional parks. Air near the rivers holds more moisture, so roofs, siding and decks dry slowly after rain and morning dew. Algae, mildew and moss take hold on surfaces that stay damp, usually starting on the shaded north side. Glass near water collects more film and buildup, and lake lots are where much of our work takes place.

HOMES

A median home built in 1996

The median Ramsey home was built in 1996, and about 41% of homes date from the 1990s and 2000s. After about three decades of sun, vinyl siding and painted trim break down at the surface into a chalky film, a process called oxidation. Rain running over the chalk leaves streaks, and the roughened surface gives dirt and algae a better grip. Homes of that era often have gridded windows, and each grid receives the same full cleaning as a whole window.

HOW WE CLEAN WINDOWS

Two methods, one streak-free result

The method depends on the window, the home and the access. Neither is a lesser option, and many homes receive a combination of both on the same visit.

TINTED GLASS

Tinted glass is cleaned without steel wool. A non-abrasive applicator and a squeegee remove nearly all soiling, although hard debris and anything trapped behind the film cannot be removed. There is no different charge for tinted glass.

01

Walk-around first

Every job begins with a walk-around. Carson checks the windows, screens, access and anything fragile, confirms your package, and raises any concern with you before anything is wetted, so the right method is used on each window.

02

Traditional hand cleaning

A T-bar applicator wets the glass with Dawn dish soap and water, and #0000 steel wool loosens stuck debris without scratching. A professional squeegee cuts in along the edge and fans across the pane in one continuous pull, and lint-free towels finish the frames, edges and sills.

03

Pure water for height and grids

Reverse osmosis, carbon and deionization filters in the van bring the water to 0 PPM. A carbon fiber pole reaching over 60 feet carries a boar's hair brush that scrubs the glass and frames, then a top-to-bottom rinse leaves nothing on the glass to spot as it dries.

04

Screens, tracks and sills

The sill, the ledge visible with the window closed, receives a courtesy wipe with every package. Standard removes and reinstalls screens to reach the glass, and Premium also hand-washes the screens and cleans the tracks, the channel beneath the sash where debris collects.

05

Final walkthrough

Carson walks the finished job with you before the visit is complete, so any concern is settled on the spot. If you notice a streak within 72 hours, tell us and we will correct the affected glass at no charge under the Streak-Free Guarantee.

FOR RAMSEY HOMES

What to know before your visit

SPRING

Pollen and winter film

A spring cleaning removes the road film and salt spray left by winter, along with the first pollen of the year, which makes spring the natural start of the season.

SPRINKLERS

Aim away from glass

Ramsey water is hard, so every cycle that hits a window leaves another layer of minerals behind. Aim each head at the lawn, never at the house, and the spotting stops building.

FALL

Before November 15

The exterior season runs March 1 through November 15. A fall cleaning clears the summer's pollen and fresh sprinkler spots, and clean glass lets more winter light into the home.

BASIC PACKAGE

Screens out beforehand

On Basic, the exterior-only package, please take the screens out before we arrive. That gives access to all of the glass, and it means you do not need to be home.

THE OWNER

Very hard Ramsey water, rinsed off with pure water

Carson Brenny owns and operates Glass House, and he is the one who shows up: no crews, no subcontractors and no handoffs. He has worked full-time in the trade since 2020 from his base in Ham Lake, and Ramsey is on his regular route. He quotes the windows, cleans them and walks the finished glass with the homeowner.

Ramsey classifies its water as very hard, about 255 to 290 PPM, and homes on private wells skip the new treatment plant entirely. Every sprinkler cycle that reaches the glass leaves another layer of minerals. Carson cleans that away and rinses with 0 PPM pure water, so nothing he uses leaves spots.

IN CARSON'S WORDS

“It's my neighbors' homes: their biggest investment, one of the places they spend the most time, and where the people they care about most live. It's something everyone should enjoy, and I believe that.”

EQUIPMENT AND METHODS

Two methods, often on the same visit

By pole: reverse osmosis, carbon and deionization filters in the van bring the water to 0 PPM, and a boar's hair brush on a carbon fiber pole reaches six stories. If a meter reading reaches 15 PPM, the filter resin is replaced before the next job. Every ladder carries padded standoffs and levelers, and no ladder is ever brought inside.

RAMSEY QUESTIONS

Window Cleaning in Ramsey: FAQ

Is Ramsey water hard enough to spot my windows?

Yes. Ramsey city water runs about 255 to 290 PPM of hardness, and the USGS calls anything over 180 PPM very hard. PPM means parts of dissolved minerals per million parts of water. Wherever sprinkler or hose water dries on glass, those minerals stay behind as white spots. Our rinse water is filtered to 0 PPM, so the cleaning itself leaves nothing behind, and aiming sprinklers away from the glass keeps new spots from forming.

Do you serve all of Ramsey?

Yes, every neighborhood in Ramsey. Glass House is based in Ham Lake, and Ramsey is part of its regular north metro service area, so there is no trip fee. Carson quotes, cleans and walks every job himself, wherever in Ramsey your home is.

What if it rains right after?

Premium includes the 10-Day Rain Guarantee. If rain causes noticeable spotting on the exterior glass within 10 days, we return and touch up the affected panes at no charge.

How long does a visit take?

Smaller jobs take about one to two hours. Larger homes, or visits that combine several services, can take half a day to a full day. Carson includes a realistic time estimate with your quote.

How should I prepare?

Turn on your outside spigot and make sure it is reachable, move belongings and furniture away from windows and sills, and mention any tint, storm windows or grids when you book.

Is steel wool safe on my windows?

Yes, in the grade we use. #0000 steel wool is an ultra-fine grade made for glass, and it is excellent on fingerprints and stuck debris. It is never used on tinted windows, so please tell us about any window film when you book.
